Shaka Tha Don Shows Off His Hood In The Visual For His Single, “Midtown”

Shaka Tha Don is continuing his ascension in Florida's hip-hop scene, unveiling his latest visual for "Midtown."

The record serves as the first single from his September 2022 mixtape, "Mr. Moleman." Unlike the usual rollout that includes at least one lead single and video ahead of a project's release, Shaka has opted to go a completely different route, unveiling the video nearly nine months after releasing his tape.

Much like the current Beyoncé playbook without the glitz of "Renaissance," Shaka is placing a spotlight on the struggle from which he emerged. Hailing from St. Petersburg, Florida, about 24 miles from Tampa, Shaka shot the video for "Midtown" in his hometown, specifically in the neighborhood of the same name. Speaking with The "Big Homies House" podcast, Shaka says this is exactly what he wants to showcase in each release.

"I want people to hear my story, learn more about me. I plan to drop two more videos from the mixtape before we start work on the next project. The goal is to land a deal, so more heat is on the way," he stated.

In "Midtown," Shaka stunts hard in his old stomping ground as he sports a red Corvette, posted up in several shots in front of the adored Midtown Supermarket. Several of his childhood friends join him in the visual, which serves as a celebration of what Shaka has overcome. The versatile rapper makes space for fellow upcoming St. Petersburg heavyweight Swagg, who tackles the second verse and hook on "Midtown." Together, the men tag team the club-friendly trap melody, a match made in Southern rap heaven.
