Last week we were saddened by the passing of John Lewis. John Lewis committed his life to civil rights and racial equality. He famously marched with Dr. Martin Luther King in Selma, AL where peaceful protesters were subjected to violent beatings and arrests. Since 1987, John Lewis served as congressman for the state of Georgia. Since his passing, John Lewis' funeral procession passed over the Edmund Pettus bridge for one final time, and now he becomes the first black man to lay in state at the US Capitol.
