Magic Johnson Docuseries Coming To Apple TV+

The upcoming four-part docuseries They Call Me Magic is slated for streaming on April 22 and will give fans a rare glimpse into the incredible real-life story of Johnson, who left his mark on history through his work — both on and off the court — and continues to impact our culture today," Apple said in a release. The documentary showcases the NBA Hall of Famer’s rise to fame, becoming the face of the Los Angeles Lakers during the 1980s, which includes how he changed the conversation around HIV after he contracted the virus in 1991. According to PEOPLE, director Todd Haynes chronicled Johnson’s life from his humble beginnings in Michigan to his storied basketball career and subsequent entrepreneurship and community activism.
