CHVRCHES' new album, Screen Violence, has officially arrived, and the evening before the project's release, the band celebrated big during their exclusive iHeartRadio Album Release Party.

Screen Violence is the band's fourth full-length album following 2018's Love Is Dead, and features ten new songs including a guest appearance from The Cure's Robert Smith ("How Not To Drown").

During their iHeartRadio Album Release Party, the band performed some of their new Screen Violence music, including "He Said She Said," "Good Girls," "California" and "How Not To Drown." The band also performed songs from their previous albums like "The Mother We Share," "Forever," "Leave A Trace," "Bury It," "Miracle," "Recover," "Never Say Die" and "Clearest Blue."

CHVRCHES also talked about Screen Violence and more during an exclusive Q&A with iHeartRadio's Booker. To kick it all off, the band opened up about where the album title comes from, and Screen Violence was actually was actually a possible name for their band that they obviously never ended up using. The band's Lauren Mayberry explained:

"We didn't mean for it to be as prophetic as it was. It was actually a proposed band name that we never used. And summer 2019, we were touring and trying to think of what we could do next, and we came back to that band name, and then everything happened last year and we made the album on screens, through screens."

The band also dropped details about their collaboration with Robert Smith and how it all came together. As Iain Cook explained, "I suppose a lot of people say it's a dream come true. You know, it's a cliche or whatever, but I wouldn't be in a band if it wasn't for Disintegration, Pornography, The Head on the Door, really special albums to me. I know the others share that too. It's cool, really cool."

Lauren added of how the song came together with Smith, "It was actually our manager. He was the brain trust that came up with this because he had heard, as we all had, that The Cure were making a record and maybe it was coming. So he was like, 'Hey, can you pass my email to Robert's managers?' But then he got an email from Robert Smith to be like, 'I hear you're looking for me. What do you want?' And then [our manager] had to say to us, 'Well, what do you want?' And, we were like, 'Ahh!'"

The band added, "I feel like he was using the ancient Scottish practice of 'If you don't ask, you don't get.' Which is what your mom would always say to you. When it actually comes to what do we want to say to Robert Smith, the first answer is 'I don't know.' Like, you never think you're going to speak to this guy, and then of course the next thing is we send him like half the album unfinished and just [said], 'Please, anything you like, if you you want to play guitar, if you want anything. And luckily for us, he really responded to joining things, and things moved along from there. It still feels weird talking about it, honestly."
